March 2nd Photo

This is my oldest daughter and her first car.  She saved up diligently from her jobs and the opportunity to buy came about through a family at church.  We are so thankful for how the Lord provided.  The price of the car was the exact amount of money she had in her savings account!  We are definitely in a new season of life.

February 28th Photo

This is my 2nd oldest sitting in our sycamore tree.  This is not something she does real often but today it was for a very sad reason.  Her rabbit died very unexpectedly.  We found him just laying in his hutch.  What makes it worse is this was the 2nd rabbit she has had in less than a year and the first died also.  He had escaped the hutch and was found dead on the property.

February 27th Photo

Today's picture is my youngest daughter.  She had Daddy pull her tooth tonight, about the 6th one in 3 months.  She is the only one of my girls who is smiling and happy after a tooth comes out.  She is also the only one to have lost so many teeth so young.  The others took forever to lose teeth.

Fallen off the wagon!

February got to be a crazy month and I fell off the photo a day wagon.  I'm going to try and pick back up from here but I will include a few of the pics that I did get taken during the last month.

The end of January brought about our first speech/debate tournament of the season up in SC.  3 of my girls participated in it.  My 2nd oldest won a debate speaker award for the first time!

The week after returning we received some additions to our feathered flock.  We had ordered 15 pullets but 2 arrived dead and we lost 2 more by the end of the next day.  The other 11 are doing well.

My sweet youngest daughter is just like her older sisters with a book in her hand.  I have to say they get it honestly as I was the same way as a child.

The middle of the month we celebrated 2 15th birthdays.  I can't believe they are getting so big!!!

That same week was a wild one as I hosted 7 ladies from around the country and Canada.  I made 7 trips to the airport which is an hour away that week.  We stayed in cabins at an old Girl Scout camp near my house.  I actually stayed there a few times as a girl scout.  Problem was we had some of the coldest weather of the winter that weekend which wasn't really what the northern ladies were looking for during a visit to Florida.  It was a great weekend though!!

This is my pic from today.  It is the gift that the afore mentioned ladies sent me for hostessing.  I can't wait to use them and remember my sweet friends!!

Day 29 Photo Challenge

I have a habit of looking outside as soon as I get up in the mornings. This morning it was very foggy, which isn't unusual where we live.  This was the full moon making its way through the fog.

Day 28 Photo Challenge

My girls gave me a new jewelry holder for Christmas.  I love being able to see all my earrings at one glance and not having to dig through boxes anymore.  Being able to color coordinate is a bonus.

Day 26 Photo Challenge

Mmmm, one of the best burgers around.  Five Guys cheeseburger with grilled onions (McDonald's - this is how a grilled onion cheeseburger should look!!)

Day 25 Photo Challenge

I love to see my girls getting along together and this picture of my oldest and youngest playing a game together makes my heart sing.  I pray they continue their sweet relationship well into their adult lives!

Day 24 Photo Challenge

My youngest is part of a science co-op. My role for the last few months is to teach the younger siblings. Today we learned about frogs and this is the craft we made. Very adorable!

Day 23 Photo Challenge

Tonight's dinner was thrown together soup because I wasn't feeling well this morning so I didn't get anything out of the freezer.  It actually turned out very good and was filling when eaten with a baked potato.  All I did was put some chicken broth with some canned chicken and added cut up carrots, fresh tomatoes and some half & half along with seasoning.

Day 22 Photo Challenge

I am speech coach in a local speech/debate club.  At today's meeting, the lady who was the speech coach before me came in to give some help on speeches as tournament season has begun.  It was a blessing to have her work with the students!

Day 21 Photo Challenge

This is a picture of the worst thing about a vacation - laundry!!  This is 2 days worth of dirty, smoke smelling clothes and towels.  Time to get busy!!

Day 20 Photo Challenge

We took a day trip to Dothan, AL.  Not much was there except for a REALLY great local restaurant called "The Blue Plate"  I highly recommend them if you are in the area and love Southern cooking.  Anyway, on the way back in, we stopped to take a picture of the campground sign.

Day 19 Photo Challege

This is one of my beautiful daughters.  We had taken a hike to the waterfall, well...more like a water trickle this time of year,  and were taking a break to figure out which way to go next.  What a gorgeous smile!!

Day 18 Photo Challenge

My picture of the day is of my home for the next few days.  My family is taking a camping trip with some friends.  The only sad part is my oldest won't be joining us.  Guess that is what happens once they grow up and have jobs!

Due to the trip, I might not be able to post pictures until I get back but I know I will be taking plenty!

Day 17 Photo Challenge

My oldest daughter with a childhood memory. She got this red dog from an unknown man on a walk around our neighborhood with our neighbor about 14 years ago.

Day 15 Photo Challenge

This was a birthday present from one of my talented daughters. She painted it for me because of my love for coffee. I'm going to fill it with some coffee beans.

Day 14 Photo Challenge

Mugsy is the subject of our photo of the day today.  Mugsy is our 1 year old Australorp rooster.  He has turned into quite the handsome fellow.  I love all the colors that are in his black feathers.

Day 13 Photo Challenge

Today's picture is of our garden or at least where it will be come spring.  We plowed up the area and are now going to cover it with a tarp for a few months.  Hopefully, future pictures will show a bountiful harvest as a result of our hard work.

Day 12 Photo Challenge

This is how my hubby looked while watching the Ravens/Bronco playoff game when the Ravens scored a touchdown with 30 seconds left in the game and tied it up.  He was rooting for the Ravens due to a high displeasure of the Broncos.

Day 11 Photo Challenge

I didn't get one taken today.  I wasn't feeling well most of the day and by the time I remembered, I was up to finding something to take a picture of.

Day 10 Photo Challenge

My toothless child is the subject of today's picture.  She has lost her 4 front top teeth in the last month and has smiled just like this after each one has come out.

Day 9 of Photo Challenge

I love puzzles!!  My problem is I don't always have time to finish them in one sitting so it is hard to find a place to leave them until the next opportunity.  Thanks to my in-laws, I now have a table in my living room that is specifically for me to leave puzzles out on.  This is the second of a series of puzzles I picked up at the Dollar Tree.

Day 8 Photo Challenge

Today was such a busy day, I had basically forgotten about a photo until late tonight.  I remembered that I had taken this photo of my shopping list before I had left the house this morning.  This board is on the inside of our pantry door and the idea is to write down something when we notice it is low or the last one has been opened.  It has been the best idea!

Day 7 Photo Challenge

Okay, I'm sure you are thinking, "Really, baking powder?" but trust me there is a story behind this photo.  Today was our first day back to school after the holidays and science experiments were being performed.  2 of the girls were to put vinegar and baking soda in a bottle with a cap of some sort.  They came in complaining that it wasn't working so I walked out to take a look.  As soon as I saw this container, I knew where the problem was.  They tried it with baking soda and it at least fizzled.

Day 6 Photo Challenge

Eggs!  Today's picture is of the fresh eggs we get each day from our chickens.  We are currently averaging 6 eggs a day so it doesn't take long to fill up this tray.  I love the variety of colors!!

Day 5 Photo Challenge

I thought a picture of me would be appropriate for today since it is my birthday.  My daughter who is with me in the picture made this wonderful cake for me.  She did a fantastic job on the flowers!!  I am thankful for the 45 years (yes, I put my age) that the Lord has granted me and the many blessings He has given me along the way.

I started off the day working on a puzzle, an activity I can enjoy more now since we have a designated table for it in the main area of the house.  We then enjoyed a breakfast of donuts, strawberries and coffee.  I also challenged my 2 oldest in a game of Just Dance 4.  I lost but I was really only doing it to work off the donuts.  We then headed out for lunch at a local seafood restaurant and some shopping.  We made a predetermined stop at Hobby Lobby to show support for them due to the Obamacare mandate that they (and I) oppose.  I am now enjoying a relaxing evening at home.

Day 4 Photo Challenge

This is a photo of my girls playing Blindman's Bluff with my youngest.  It was quite hilarious to watch her.  I also love the green socks on my 2nd oldest.

Day 3 of Photo Challenge

Okay, 2 pictures again but it is the same object.  This is a no-knead bread that I made after seeing it on Pinterest.  This is actually my 2nd loaf and seems to have come out better than the first one.  I don't have a dutch oven (preferred method of baking) so I tried a stoneware pan with a Pampered chef glass batter bowl over it.  The bowl was too small and I think I should have extended the baking time as it was a little doughy.  It was still edible and good tasting though.  Tonight's loaf was made using the insert to my crockpot, hence the oblong shape, and foil over top.  The taste test got all thumbs up!!

The recipe I used can be found here: Crusty-bread  There were a few changes I made because I am using fresh ground hard white wheat.  I used 2 3/4 cups water instead of 3 and baked a few minutes longer.  This was suggested by someone in the comments and seems to have worked well for me.  I also added a tablespoon of garlic powder to this loaf since we are having it with spaghetti.  I can't wait to try some with different types of cheese and herbs!!

A dutch oven is definitely on my wish list now so if you know of a good one beside Le Crueset, let me know please!!

Day 2 Photo Challenge

Our picture today is of our 10 month old black lab.  She was sitting on the patio in one of our chairs looking at something.  She showed up on our doorstep 6 months ago and, while I didn't want another dog, I have to say she is fun to have around.  Most of the time...just don't ask about the chicken incident or the azaleas or the pond....

I know this is one picture a day but I am adding this second one to help explain the first one.

Day 1 Photo Challenge

Day 1's photo is a animal track found in my garden.  It is a good size and larger than our Labrador's print.  Our investigation has us thinking it is a coyote which isn't surprising since we have seen them in the field next to us and also heard them howling some evenings.  The other thought is a large dog roaming loose.

Welcome

Welcome to my little part of the internet!  I hope you enjoy your stay but just know, this is where I am going to speak my mind on everything and anything.  Trust me, there is much in there just wanting to get out.  I also am going to do my 365 day photo challenge so look for those each day.
